    Aidan about himself: I am a synergistic big data engineer! I work on general big data / search problems which the company may have. I'm (newly) responsible for their real-time search services, using Natural Language Processing / Machine Learning techniques to expand and maintain it. I also works on infrastructure monitoring and alert systems. This includes things like developing API's to provide real time status updates about their search infrastructure.
  • Aidan's has been administering our main OSL server, including installation and configuration of LAMP-based software, including, but not limited to, OSTicket, Mediawiki, etc.

  • Last known position: Sys Admin for Distilled Media, Ireland's largest online publisher, where he is responsible for the design, creation and maintenance of the software and hardware infrastructures that host some of Ireland's most well known and popular internet brands including Daft.ie, Boards.ie, Adverts.ie. and TheJournal.ie. Open source projects are an integral part of their systems, and are used in pretty much everything they do.
  • Chris was second person to join OSL as a volunteer, and became a senior sys admin very soon after that, running our hosting OpenVZ servers

  • Saniya got her first introduction to Linux, Ubuntu and Debian at OSL. She and Shyrailym later worked on the Bluetooth Fairy project, which tried to detect people that entered the building using bluetooth scanner and display appropriate greetings on the screen.

    About Karim: he has done foundation year in Ireland and after that decided to enroll to UCD, because because for him it's one of the best Universitites in Ireland as well as in the World. For a moment more interested in Web Devolopment and soccer (particulary football freestyle).
  • Karim has been so far our most passionate webmaster (though Yerlan might take over soon), playing with Drupal Views and CCK to make the OSL website easier to manage.

  • Last known position: Google in San Francisco working on the data pipelines behind Freebase.com and the Knowledge Graph. The pipelines are mostly Flume based (Java abstraction on top of MapReduce). He also does a lot of data analytics with Dremel, which is an unbelievably fast real-time SQL-like distributed query engine. Apache Drill is an interesting open-source project to replace Dremel.
